EAUED Water Venture

The EAUED Water Venture is a strategic enterprise initiative of Emmanuel Alayande University of Education (EAUED), Oyo, focused on providing safe, clean, and affordable drinking water to the university community and the public at large. Established to promote health, sustainability, and entrepreneurship, the Water Venture leverages modern purification technology and best practices in water production to meet high-quality standards while supporting the university's service and income-generation goals.

The current Director of the EAUED Water Venture is Dr. Kamil Adeyemi HAMZAH, a dedicated academic and administrator with expertise in science education and environmental health. Dr. Hamzah brings a wealth of experience and a commitment to ensuring the venture maintains excellence in water quality, operational efficiency, and community service.

The EAUED Water Venture (formerly known as the EACOED Table Water Factory) is one of the primary Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) units of Emmanuel Alayande University of Education, Oyo.

It functions as a commercial enterprise owned by the university, designed to provide high-quality drinking water while serving as a practical training ground for students.

1. Core Objectives

The venture was established with three main goals:

• Revenue Generation: To boost the university's independent funding (IGR), reducing total reliance on government subventions.

• Health & Safety: To provide the university community (students and staff) with guaranteed clean, treated sachet and bottled water, reducing the risk of waterborne diseases on campus.

• Entrepreneurial Training: To serve as a practical site for students in the Entrepreneurship, Innovation, and Sustainability programs to learn about production, quality control, and marketing.

2. Products and Services

The venture is known for producing:

• EAUED Sachet Water: Popularly called "Pure Water," primarily consumed by the student population and sold at a regulated price.

• EAUED Bottled Water: Produced in various sizes,  for use at university functions, board meetings, and for external sale.

• Bulk Supply: The venture often supplies large quantities to external vendors within the Oyo community, acting as a wholesale distributor.

3. Quality Control and Compliance

To maintain its license and safety standards, the Water Venture operates under the supervision of:

• NAFDAC: All products are registered and subject to periodic inspections by the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control.

• The University Directorate of Audit: As a commercial unit, its accounts and production logs are regularly audited to ensure financial transparency.

• The University Health Services: Periodic testing of water samples is conducted to ensure the filtration and UV sterilization systems are working perfectly.

4. Integration with Other Ventures

The Water Venture is part of a larger "Ventures Group" at EAUED, which includes:

• EAUED Bread and Confectionary Venture (The Bakery).

• EAUED Printery (For official university printing).

• EAUED Consultancy Services.
