Directorate of Entrepreneurship, Innovation, and Sustainability
The Directorate of Entrepreneurship, Innovation, and Sustainability at Emmanuel Alayande University of Education is dedicated to equipping students with practical skills, creative thinking, and a sustainability mindset essential for success in today’s dynamic world.
The current and Pioneer of this directorate is Dr. Olushola Samuel Fadairo a distinguished Nigerian academic, researcher, and consultant specializing in sustainable rural development, agricultural extension, climate finance, and governance.
The Directorate of Entrepreneurship, Innovation, and Sustainability (DEIS) at Emmanuel Alayande University of Education (EAUED), Oyo, is a strategic academic unit designed to transform students from "job seekers" into "job creators."
In the modern Nigerian university system, this directorate is essential for bridging the gap between theoretical classroom learning and the practical demands of the global economy.
1. Leadership
The pioneer Director of the Directorate is Dr. Olushola Samuel Fadairo. He is a highly regarded researcher and consultant with expertise in sustainable rural development, climate finance, and agricultural extension. His background in sustainability ensures that the directorate doesn't just teach business, but focuses on businesses that are environmentally and socially responsible.
2. Core Pillars of the Directorate
The work of the directorate is built on three main concepts:
-
Entrepreneurship: Teaching the mechanics of starting and managing a business, including financial literacy, marketing, and risk management.
-
Innovation: Encouraging students to use creative thinking and digital tools (like AI and automation) to solve societal problems in new ways.
-
Sustainability: Ensuring that students understand how to build "future-proof" businesses that consider environmental impact and long-term viability.
3. Key Responsibilities
The directorate manages several critical functions for the university community:
-
Mandatory Entrepreneurship Courses: Coordinating the ENT courses that every student must take to graduate, regardless of their faculty.
-
Skill Acquisition Centers: Managing practical workshops where students can learn vocational skills like tailoring, bead making, ICT services, agriculture, and more.
-
Incubation & Mentorship: Acting as a "hub" where students with business ideas can get advice from seasoned entrepreneurs and faculty members.
-
Industry Partnerships: Building links between the university and the private sector (the "Triple Helix" model) to create internship opportunities and expose students to real-world business environments.
4. Strategic Importance
For EAUED, this directorate is a response to the current economic reality in Nigeria. By focusing on Innovation and Sustainability, the university ensures that its graduates are not just qualified to teach, but are also equipped with the "soft skills" and technical know-how to thrive in various industries or start their own educational consultancies and tech-driven firms.
