The current and Pioneer of this directorate is Dr. Olugbenga Oladapo Ayena a distinguished academic and professional counselor in the Emmanuel Alayande University of Education (EAUED), Oyo, Nigeria. He is notably recognized for his scholarly contributions to the field of guidance and counseling.

The Directorate of Students Support and Counselling Services at Emmanuel Alayande University of Education (EAUED), Oyo, is the university’s primary agency for student mental health, academic guidance, and general well-being. • Academic Counselling: Assisting students who are struggling with their grades, help with study habits, time management, and navigating the transition from secondary school to the rigors of university life.

• Personal & Psychological Support: Providing a confidential space for students to discuss mental health issues, such as anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, or family pressures.

• Career Guidance: Helping students align their personality traits and interests with the right career paths, especially for those in the Faculty of Education who may be exploring various teaching and non-teaching specializations.

3. Key Functions and Services

• Orientation Programmes: The Directorate plays a lead role during the annual Freshmen Orientation, introducing new students to the university's rules, culture, and available support systems.

• Crisis Intervention: Providing immediate support in cases of emergencies, trauma, or significant personal loss.

• Referral Services: When a student has a specialized need (such as a medical condition or a complex legal issue), the Directorate acts as a bridge to the University Health Services or other relevant administrative units.

• Workshops and Seminars: Organizing regular campus-wide events on topics like drug abuse prevention, emotional intelligence, and financial literacy for students.

4. Confidentiality and Access

A hallmark of this directorate is its Strict Confidentiality Policy. No information shared during a counselling session is disclosed to lecturers, parents, or other students without the student's explicit consent, except in life-threatening situations.
